Jodie Memmer Obituary

Jodie L. Memmer, 71, of Princeton passed away Saturday, January 24, 2026 at the Linda E. White Hospice House in Evansville, IN with her family by her side. She was born July 18, 1954 in Princeton to James P. and Barbara (Julian) Grable.

Jodie lived in Princeton most of her life. She was a 1972 graduate of Princeton Community High School, attended ISU in Terre Haute, then graduated from ISUE in Evansville. She and her husband Tom had owned and operated Memmer’s True Value Hardware Store.  She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, member of the Daughters of Isabella, and in 2024 she was a recipient of the Simon Brute Award for her work at St. Joseph Church.  Jodie enjoyed shopping and spending time with family and friends, especially her grandchildren.  She always liked to visit with her many customers at the store. They were very special to her. Jodie was diagnosed with juvenile diabetes from a young age, and she had received an award several years ago from Eli Lily for being a survivor of juvenile diabetes for 50 years.

Jodie is survived by her husband, Tom Memmer of Princeton; mother, Barbara Grable of Princeton; children, Jill Fritz (Barry) of Princeton, and Andy Memmer of Princeton; former daughter-in-law, Whittney Memmer of Princeton; grandchildren, Emma Fritz (Jarrett Market), Allie Fritz, Keagen, Colton and Aden Memmer; brother, Arnie Grable of Princeton; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Jodie was preceded in death by her father, J.P. Grable; and brothers, Jay and Scott Grable.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 12 pm Friday, January 30, 2026 at the St. Joseph Catholic Church, 410 S. Race St. in Princeton, with Fr. Gary Kaiser celebrant.  Burial will follow in the St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.  Visitation will be held from 4 until 8 pm Thursday at the Colvin Funeral Home in Princeton and from 11 am until 12 pm on Friday at the church, where there will be a Rosary prayed at 10:30 am.

Memorial contributions may be made to the former Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation at Breakthrough T1D, PO Box 5042, Hagerstown, MD 21741-5042. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home and the church.
